It all started one evening in mid August 2011 over a cup of coffee. Few of us ladies from online community were chatting on our Facebook Page about how to decorate for coming Diwali. And I happened to share a piece of work my sister created for me for Diwali a year before.
My sister created this piece for me when I use to crib how I am not allowed to put up a Rangoli in our New York City apartment. With the carpeted floors everywhere it is just impossible to make powdered color Rangoli within the apartment or even outside. This piece that she created was prefect for me to set it up as Rangoli on carpet or wood floor. When these ladies appreciated the work, it clicked us sisters how much not just me but all my friends struggled with such traditional customs to be followed in the world outside India.
And thats when Nirman (means Creation in Hindi) took birth. We today not only carry designs to be set up as Rangoli or table decor, but also variety of other items inspired by the Indian culture, motifs, fabrics, henna and embroidery. Oh and of course the glam and glitter of Bollywood :-).
Through this blog we would share with you all our inspirations and hope to take you through the journey of lives of Indians living abroad. Hope you'd enjoy this journey, whether you live in India or anywhere else.
